Light. Camera. The choice! This was the slogan that opened this year's fair of elective courses at the Department of Film and Television of the Faculty of Art and Design of the International Humanitarian University. The atmosphere of this event was not just festive - it resembled a movie set, where each student is the main character of his or her own future scenario.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of the Department, the guarantor of the educational program “Audiovisual Art and Production”, Professor Yaroslav Lupiy acquainted the applicants for higher education with the content of the elective component of this educational program, and also explained the main procedural issues regarding the choice of academic disciplines.
In turn, the teachers of the department: Professor Diana Mala, Associate Professors Tetiana Hlushchenko and Serhii Danylenko, Senior Lecturer Serhii Aksionov and Lecturer Olena Totska presented their elective block of disciplines in turn, revealed its essence and advantages, and introduced students of different courses to the disciplines that will form their individual educational trajectory. The presentations were followed by a lively question-and-answer session.
It was interesting to see how students listened attentively, asked questions, and discussed with each other. Some of them had already decided what they wanted to do, while others were hesitating between directing and screenwriting. But the main thing is that each of the boys and girls felt that here they could choose not just a discipline, but a direction that would become part of their own professional identity.
According to the head of the Department of Film and Television, Professor Yaroslav Lupiy, the current complexity of organizing education did not prevent many teachers from creating and presenting new subjects for students for the first time. The event provided an opportunity for young people to determine their preferences and choose a really important discipline for their future professional growth, as well as to get acquainted with the way the teacher presents information in advance, which is an important component of gaining new knowledge and practical skills.
- The elective fair is not just about choosing subjects. It is a choice of profession, a moment when you begin to realize that each discipline is a brick in the construction of your cinematic personality. And like in a good movie, it is the details that determine how strong the final shot will be,” the scientist emphasized.
