Modern Criminalistics Hub of the Faculty of Law and Economics

On the initiative and support of the President of the International Humanitarian University, Academician Serhii Kivalov, a modern Criminalistics Hub was opened at the Faculty of Law and Economics, designed to conduct practical classes on such mandatory educational components as Criminalistics, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Criminology, Operational and Investigative Activities, Tactical and Specialist and Firearms Training with students of bachelor's and master's degrees in Law Enforcement and Law. This exciting event reflects a progressive approach to education and research in the field of forensics.
The Forensic Hub is equipped with modern multimedia equipment and software that allows for comprehensive training on urgent investigative (detective) actions using the 3-D effect of being present at the scene. A wide range of modern forensic equipment helps students to acquire practical skills in identifying, recording and seizing the main and most procedurally relevant types of material evidence. Thanks to the use of the Investigator's Workstation software product, students hone their skills in drafting criminal procedural documentation, working with current law enforcement information and search systems, mastering the methods of criminal analysis, profiling and drawing up sketches of suspects, etc.
The students are particularly interested in the wide collection of short- and long-barreled firearms and cold steel weapons, special equipment used in the educational process in firearms science, forensic ballistics, explosives, tactical and specialised firearms training of law enforcement officers.
Practitioners from the National Police, the Prosecutor's Office, forensic and forensic institutions are widely involved in the training sessions at the forensic hub, and they have praised the opportunities and prospects for using the available material and technical support in the initial process of training law enforcement officers. Such a discovery may also serve as an incentive to intensify research work in the field of forensics, facilitating cooperation with law enforcement agencies and other scientific institutions.
We hope that the most modern Criminalistics Hub in Ukraine will definitely become a centre of innovative research, training and practical experience, contributing to the development of both students and law enforcement professionals!
